AV AWARD PROFILE 5: CHIEF F C CHUKWU (OZOR AKPAZIAKU 1 OF AWKUNANAW)



Chief Friday C Chukwu (born 19 May 1952), better known as Ozor Akpaziaku, is from Amodu Awkunanaw, Enugu state, a manufacturer and entrepreneur per excellence. He started his entrepreneurial career as a trader after the Nigerian civil war. He is renowned for philanthropic benevolence to the people of Enugu. Chief Friday Chukwu has worked hard through honesty and humble beginnings to achieve his enviable status in Enugu state today. 
Life and Business career
Chief Friday C Chukwu was born in Uyo and raised in Enugu State, then Anambra state. His chieftaincy title Akpaziaku, which is derived from his phenomenal benevolence, was given to him by his people for his unrivalled philanthropy. Chief Akpaziaku developed interest for business during the Nigerian civil war which brought his educational pursuit to inevitable end.
Chief Friday Chukwu was born in Uyo to the family of late Chief  Okonkwo Chukwu and late Mrs Theresa Chukwu of UmuOnovo Anvene in Umuowo, Amodu Awkunanaw.  He attended Community Primary School, Amodu. Thereafter, he proceeded to St Theresa's Secondary School, Nsukka for his secondary education. His educational pursuit came to an inevitable end due to the Nigerian civil war of 1969 to 1970.
He established various profitable companies which flourished because of his honest business dealings. This resulted in his being appointed distributor by various multinational companies notably among them include, Cadbury Plc, WAMCO Campina Plc, Nestle Plc, CFAO Nig Plc and host of other companies. His peculiar business acumen has earned him various awards locally and internationally.
Philanthropy
Chief Friday C Chukwu is synonymous with benevolence. His selflessness made his door open to the downtrodden and destitute deserving of his goodhearted generosity. He has singlehandedly built over 50 houses to people who are not even related to him or even from his community. He installed street lights in Amodu Okowo.
His scholarship scheme trains deserving students up to tertiary level. Chief Friday C Chukwu is a pillar of Ndi Amodu. It is not exaggeration to state here almost every kindred in Amodu has directly or indirectly benefitted from his generosity. He pays monthly salaries to the first three eldest people in Amodu Okowo.
