PROFESSOR ARUM IS NEW DEAN OF SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES 


Professor Chinwuba Arum  is the new  Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) FUTA.


Arum, a Professor of Civil Engineering started his teaching career as a Lecturer II in the Department of Civil Engineering, FUTA in year 2000 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2014.  He acted as Head of Department between August 2009 and August 2011 and Head of Department 2016-2018.


He also served as a Visiting Associate Professor and Pioneer Dean of Faculty of Engineering at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin between October, 2013 and August 2014 in addition to serving as Visiting Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Namibia, Jose Eduardo Los Santos Campus, Ongwediva (2014-2018) and Visiting Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State (2015-2017).


Arum has contributed significantly to Teaching and Research at national and international levels having supervised and churned out numerous undergraduates and postgraduates students.


A thorough bred Researcher and widely travelled academic, Professor Arum is expected to deploy his wealth of experience and global network to deepen the ongoing repositioning and development of the School of Postgraduate Studies.


Arum, 55 and a member of many professional bodies, is married with children.

Ten years on and it looks as if it was just yesterday. The memories about him remain evergreen because he lives in the hearts that he touched. And they are many! Neither a star nor comet heralded his birth on March 19, 1942 but the then rusty Amechi, Awkunanaw community in today’s Enugu State had the presence of mind to recognize that a child who would later shine brighter than star had been born.
