In Awkunanaw, we have a history, and most of the work we do at AV is centered on an in depth research and development of our culture, tradition and history. Working constantly to improve on the history of the core Awkunanaw man is important, so that our cultures and traditions will not be shrouded in the sands of time. The sands of time being apparent in the current explosion of knowledge through the internet, the volatile social revolution of the present time. All these can conspire to bury the real truth of our history. Hence the subsequent generations may suffer for the want of this knowledge. Sometimes, and with some people, the truth is bitter or painful. But it still remains what it is...the truth nevertheless. I would like us to continue to use this forum in bearing our minds on the most sensitive issues that has greatly divided and barred development as it were in Awkunanaw. Andrew I.E. Ewoh is a Professor of Political Science and Public Administration in the Barbara Jordan - Mickey Leland School Of Public Affairs[1] at Texas Southern University.
