Onye ishzi Okunano: A poser!

The issue of Seniority position in Okunanoland has become a good subject for debate. Facts and figures that were indoctrinated into us by our parents is now exposed to a great challenge for the want of reason or rationale. How do we teach our children that Akegbe Ogwugwueze bore four sons in this order: Obuoffia - The first born-son Akegbe ugwu - The second born-son Amodu - The third born-son Umah - The fourth and last born-son The above are the four sons of Akegbe Ogwugwueze(a.k.a. Okunano Osagwede) the progenitor of Okunano. That though Obuoffia is the first son, the position of Seniority has been given to Akegbe ugwu for whatever reason. How do we justify this act? All these can conspire to bury the real truth of our history. Hence the subsequent generations may suffer for the want of this knowledge. Sometimes, and with some people, the truth is bitter or painful. But it still remains what it is...the truth nevertheless. I would like us to continue to use this forum in bearing our minds on the most sensitive issues that has greatly divided and barred development as it were in Awkunanaw. Overtime, on this forum we have taken the patience to trace our history, the genealogy of the Awkunana...

Owfhirí, igó-owfhiri and igó-inyi

These are some of the perceived fetish practices of our fore- bearers which is almost gone extinct in Okunano land. Some of us here may have experienced something of it, Seen something of this practice with our fathers, elders and people without fully grasping the significance of such annual and regular sacrifices to carven images and molded clayey moulds and sculptures. Or some awkward looking hole in the ground that is usually decorated with chicken 🐔 blood and  feathers🪶.... We saw it all, and even partook in the act of sacrifice howbeit, knowingly or ignorantly. *What is the significance of such an annual sacrificial practices now gone extinct?*
