THE STATE OF THE NATION

Image
STATE OF THE NATION: Every Nation is like a motor vehicle conveying the citizens as it would a driver and passengers inside it. The leaders of Nations therefore becomes their drivers.  Drawing from the exact words of Bertrand Russell : When the car will not go, he does not attribute its annoying behavior to sin, he does not say, "You are a wicked motorcar, and I shall not give you any more petrol until you go."  He attempts to find out what is wrong and set it right. Invariably, It becomes the fault of the driver whose impatience has blurred his perception. His car will remain grounded and immovable in one place until the driver calmly detects the fault with it.

IS COTTAGE HOSPITAL AMECHI AWKUNANAW THIS CORRUPT?

Image
Cottage Hospital Amechi Awkunanaw currently services over 500 women and children in the area with support from Government and non governmental agencies alike.  The Health care center has received lots of free medical supplies, equipments and donations from some organizations like Vigor Health Drive Inc to mention just one. But reports reaching AV is that most of these medical supplies which were meant for free distribution to cater for the unmet needs of patients and their families in the community is now being sold to them. Strangely, BP checks which is done free at other similar health facilities now costs #20.00 for Children and #50.00 for adults at the hospital's lobby.  The pharmacy unit sells a pair of gloves for #50.00 to patients. But the last straw that broke the camel's back in the matter is that the Nurses now collects service charges for injections without issuing receipts for the fees and yet claim that those fees goes into the government coffers. Children and adu...

Igbo enwé Eze!

Image
"Igbo enwé Eze"  The Igbo have been known to pride themselves on democracy and freedom where consensus is the norm rather than bowing to the commands or wishes of the "king". Consensus amongst the Igbo has always been between " Oha na Eze" It is generally known that the individualistic and freedom-loving nature of the Igbo people does not support feudal or monarchical culture -that the Igbo's are incompatible with monarchical culture.  Professor Onwumechili at the the 2000 Ahiajoku lecture for Igbos, asserted this fact when he said that "the pre-colonial traditional government of the Igbo without kings imbued in them the characteristic traits that prompt the saying that 'Igbo Enwe Eze'  ".  So how come Ndi Igbo are deceiving or are allowing themselves to be decieved? Who is fooling who? Without a common ground or platform, the diversely oriented Igbo's are being promised the leadership of this country come 2023... We dey laugh o!...

Ndi Igbo: A history in debate

Image
Several historians of  Igbo culture  have written various accounts concerning where Igbos originated from. Anyone writing an historical account of Igbo people must have facts to back it up. However, no historian can claim the historical accounts of other historians are either truthful or falsehood, because no historical account is nobler than the other. Here are two (2) historical accounts of Igbo origin:  Igbos are descendants of Jacob who later became known as Israel. Israel had 12 sons one of which was known as Gad. When famine caused Jacob and his sons to migrate to Egypt where there was an abundance of food at the time. They remained in Egypt for many years; before the Egyptians became envious and began to persecute the Israelites.Gad who became the patriarch of all Igbos had 7 sons – Eri was the 5th of them. Before the Egyptian persecution began, Eri in company of his family and associates left Egypt after catching an inkling of impending pe...
